Nightingale's rich, moody tone makes a statement in a stylish home — and getting the size right means your dog will actually claim it as theirs. Here's a simple guide to measuring your dog, picking between Medium and Large, and caring for your bed so it lasts.

Which size is right?

Breed gives you a starting point, but size and build can differ a lot from dog to dog — particularly with mixed breeds. Measuring your dog takes a couple of minutes and gives you the best fit.

How to measure

1. Standing length. Have your dog stand naturally and measure from their nose to the base of their tail.
2. Stretched-out length. Wait until your dog is lying fully stretched on their side, then measure nose to tail tip. This matters most, because nearly every dog stretches out at some point.
3. Weight. Weigh your dog as a cross-check, especially if they're stocky or compact.
4. Size up from there. Choose the bed that gives them comfortable extra room beyond their stretched-out length — a snug exact fit isn't the goal.

Washing & care

1. Remove the mattress. Unzip the base at the centre and lift the inner mattress away from the braided outer.
2. Machine wash, low temperature. Wash the inner mattress cover on a low setting using a mild detergent.
3. Air dry only. Tumble drying can affect the filling and shape over time — dry it fully in a spot with plenty of airflow.
4. Spot-clean the braid. The outer braid isn't machine washable, so sponge off any spills or dirt and leave it to air dry.

Tips for keeping Nightingale at its best

• Deeper shades hide everyday marks well, but light-coloured fur can stand out — a lint roller or quick brush between washes helps.
• Wash regularly rather than waiting for visible dirt, since oils and odour build up first.
• Check the mattress is completely removed — only the inner cover is machine washable.
• Brush off loose fur before washing to keep your machine's filter clear.
• Let everything dry fully before zipping the cover back over the mattress.
